Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask us most as they navigate a late-life move. Don’t see yours here? Reach out — we’re happy to help.

How do I know it’s time to start this conversation with my parent?

You don’t have to wait for a crisis. If you’re noticing stairs becoming difficult, a home that’s harder to maintain, or a growing sense that “someday” is getting closer, that’s the right time to start — five months too early beats five minutes too late.

My parent doesn’t want to move. What do I do?

This is one of the most common concerns families bring to us. We help you open the conversation with empathy instead of pressure, focused on your parent’s independence and dignity, not just logistics.

What does a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) actually do differently than a regular realtor?

An SRES is trained specifically in the financial, emotional, and logistical realities of late-life moves — from reverse mortgages to downsizing timelines to coordinating with the other professionals a family may need along the way.

Should we sell first or find the new place first?

It depends on your parent’s finances, health, and timeline — there’s no single right answer. We walk through your specific situation and build a sequence that reduces risk and stress.

What if my parent isn’t ready to sell yet, but we want to plan ahead?

That’s exactly what a needs audit and early planning session are for. Having a plan in place — even one you’re not using yet — removes the panic if circumstances change quickly.

How do we handle decades of belongings in the home?

We can connect you with downsizing, estate sale, and liquidation resources so this doesn’t fall entirely on your shoulders. We can’t always guarantee a fully vetted referral for every location or service, but we do our best to connect you with a senior-friendly, supportive provider.

What does it cost to work with you?

An initial 30-minute consultation is complimentary and no-obligation. We listen to understand your situation, then offer the best next step — which includes a look at our fee structure — and you are under no obligation to use our services.

We live out of state. Can you still help?

Yes — we regularly coordinate with out-of-town adult children, keeping everyone informed and involved where necessary along the way of your parent’s or family’s journey. If there’s a decision to sell a property that isn’t in the Metro Atlanta area, we can still support you through one of our preferred Seniors Real Estate Specialists in that area.

Is your service national?

Yes — our consultancy is available nationally, by phone and video call. Our real estate division operates out of Metro Atlanta, and we also have SRES partners across the country who we’re happy to connect you with after your initial consultation.

What if I’ve already decided my parent needs to move and just need to find a Seniors Real Estate Specialist?

This is a common question, and yes — we help with this too. Simply fill out our Contact Us form with a few details: where the property is located and what kind of support you’re looking for, and we’ll do our best to make a connection for you.
